Clinging to a narrow lava-rock promontory on the island of El Hierro, Hotel Puntagrande was officially recognised by the Guinness Book of Records as the world’s smallest hotel in 1984. The original 1884 building — once a warehouse and customs shed — has just four rooms and one suite, each with direct ocean views, maritime décor and the sound of the Atlantic as a constant backdrop.
